Twenty-one new social homes have been officially opened at Traynor Avenue in Tullow.
The development includes a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes and officials with Carlow County Council saying the project marks an important step in meeting demand and reducing the numbers of people on the housing waiting list.
Director of Services for Housing Claire Hartley says further housing developments are planned – she told KCLR News’ Martin Quilty;
“We absolutely have a really strong pipeline of social housing in Carlow, in Tullow, in Bagenalstown; we will always deliver more than what the Department, I suppose, give us a target to do so we have a very strong, dedicated team of housing staff here in Carlow and it’s always a pleasure to hand over keys to new households and to new communities like Traynor Avenue”.
