60-year-old pipes causing Carlow water leaks

Pipes that are up to 60 years old are the cause of most of the leakage in Carlow Town, according to Irish Water.
The company says they’re trying to keep disruptions in the town to a minimum as works are set to continue until the end of November.
It’s all part of their €5.5m investment in a water mains upgrade, and work is already mostly finished in Bagenalstown, Tullow and Tinnahinch.
However, there’s 10 kilometres of pipes to be upgraded in Carlow Town and site investigation and archaeological works are underway there at the moment.
Speaking to KCLR News, Project Engineer, Mark O’Duffy says it’s important that all this work is carried out as quickly as possible.
