Kilkenny & Carlow may get the opportunity to pilot a new crime prevention initiative.
That’s the hope of local Councillor David Fitzgerald who brought the proposal to the Justice Minister last year to introduce CCTV cameras and number plate recognition technology on Motorway junctions.
This weekend at the Fine Gael Ard Fheis Frances Fitzgerald agreed to adopt the plans as party policy.
Councillor Fitzgerald – who will contest for a seat in the upcoming election – thinks Carlow-Kilkenny would be an ideal area to test it out.
