Pedestrian killed in Callan named as Margaret Webster

There’s devastation for a local family following the death of a 50-year-old woman yesterday.

Margaret Webster died in Callan after being hit by a car. At around 6 o’clock yesterday evening, Margaret Webster from Hugginstown was struck by a car on Green Street in Callan and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 20s, was not injured.

The road had been closed for a forensic examination overnight but reopened this morning.

Gardaí are looking for anyone who was in the Green Street area of Callan or who drove through the town around 6 o’clock yesterday evening, to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 7775000.
