32 people have now been arrested in Carlow as part of Operation Storm which finishes in the county today.
The three-day operation began on Monday, targeting Tullow, Hacketstown, Bagenalstown, Borris and Carlow Town.
The arrests were in relation to thefts, burglaries, drugs, assaults and a sexual assault.
12 people have been charged and are due to appear before the court.
13 searches were carried out with six drug seizures taking place – one of those was for a substance with an estimated street value of €2,000.
46 checkpoints were also in place, which resulted in six cars being seized.
22 out of the 32 people arrested have been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
25 students from the Garda training college in Templemore also joined the Gardaí out today around Carlow.
Natasha McAleese was amongst them and she told KCLR News it’s a great opportunity to gain experience.
Meanwhile, six new Gardai have started work in Carlow and another 5 are promised before September.
Superintendent Gerry Redmond says it will almost restore the local force to 2008/2009 staffing levels.
He says it should allow him re-establish community policing in the town and county.
