Almost 4,000 Carlow and Kilkenny students sitting their Leaving and Junior Certs from today

It’s a big day for almost 4,000 local Leaving and Junior Cert students as day one of the exams has arrived.

English Paper 1 and Home Economics are first up for the Leaving Certs, while it’s English and CSPE for the Juniors.

In Carlow there are 871 Leaving Cert students taking their exams and 929 Junior Certs.

While in Kilkenny, there are 1,025 Leaving Certs and 1,153 Junior Certs.

Carlow guidance counsellor Gemma Lawlor says the key thing today is to remain cool and calm.
