98-year-old woman left shaken after frightening burglary at her Kilkenny home

Kilkenny Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a 98-year-old woman was subjected to a very frightening experience in her home last night.

It happened at about 9.40pm at a house in the Riverside Drive area of the city when the woman woke up to a strange man in the room telling her he was from the ESB.

He told her she owed him money before ransacking the room and making off with her handbag.

Sergeant Peter McConnon told KCLR News thankfully the woman wasn’t injured.

KCLR reported a similar burglary in Borris, Co Carlow in recent weeks where an elderly man was targeted.
