It seems there is still no timeline as to when the first families in Carlow and Kilkenny can avail of a new respite service.
Enable Ireland, who will be providing the service say they expect the HSE to be in a position to hand it over to them by the end of February.
Local mother Linda Comerford says it won’t be up and running straight away once the lease is signed though. She’s been telling KCLR that “HIQA still have to come in & register the house, they will still have to furnish the house – the beds, hoists, all of that is going to take time.”
She adds “I did as that when Enable Ireland get the keys, can you give me a timeline on when the first families will avail of the service, and they can’t. So, all I know is that the house is due to be finished the last week of February but it could be a number of weeks before families can avail of the service”.
