Bail conditions issues raised in the Dáil by Carlow & Kilkenny TD

Repeat offenders and those who constantly break their bail conditions should have extra penalties imposed on them.

That’s the view of Carlow/Kilkenny Fianna Fáil TD Bobby Aylward who has raised the matter in the Dáil.

He wants reforms to Ireland’s bail laws introduced.

He’s told KCLR News he’s heard of ridiculous scenarios regarding people continuously being let out on bail “some up to 16 crimes against people & they out on bail & committing crimes, mostly robberies, while on bail. This needs to be looked at. We introduced a private members bill in Fianna Fail last year saying first time free legal aid but second & third time it should be curtailed”.
