HSA inspectors begin to call unannounced to homes in Carlow, Kilkenny & beyond from today

A new farm safety campaign will see inspectors pay a visit to farmers in Carlow, Kilkenny and around the country.

From today, inspectors from the Health and Safety Authority will be calling, unannounced, to assess the risks posed to farmers particularly during calving season.

Livestock is the number one cause of accidents on Irish farms – last year a farmer in North Kilkenny was killed by a cow when he was tending to her calf.

Speaking to KCLR News, Pat Griffin from the HSA says local farms will certainly be inspected.
