Four people have died on the roads in less than 24 hours bringing the total to 110 since the start of the year, it’s 18 more than this time last year.
Shortly before midnight last night two cars collided on the N56 at Kilmacrennan in Donegal. The driver of one of the cars – a man in his 70s was killed, along with a woman who was also in her 70s and a passenger in the other car.
While a woman in her 40s was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.
While in Finglas in Dublin a man in his 20s has also died. The motorcyclist was the only person involved in the collision, that happened shortly after 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon on the Old North Road.
A woman in her 80s has died in a crash in Meath. The two-car collision happened on the R148 in Enfield yesterday afternoon shortly after 2 o’clock.
The driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead, while the second driver was taken to Blanchardstown Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
