The highest temperature recorded today is at Oak Park in Carlow, where it got to 28 degrees.
Met Eireann has said the temperatures will be warm again for the remainder of the week but stopped short of saying we are in for a heatwave.
In order for there to be a heat wave in Ireland, temperatures need to be above 25 degrees for five consecutive days.
Met Eireann’s Liz Walsh says that is looking less likely.
