Carlow and Kilkenny learner drivers face waits of eight and seven weeks respectively for driving test

The average wait for a driving test has fallen to under 10 weeks, according to Parc Road Safety Group.

Figures show the average learner driver is waiting 9.6 weeks to sit their test – in Carlow it’s eight weeks and seven in Kilkenny.

However the number of no-shows is on the rise, with 699 recorded in June this year, according to the organisation.

The Road Safety Authority is due to publish official wait times at the end of the week.
