Families across Carlow and Kilkenny are being encouraged to pick up a free “My Little Library Bag” to help children prepare for starting primary school this September.
The bags include storybooks about the transition to school, along with guides for parents on routines, reading, and even basic Irish.
They’re available at local libraries, where families can also sign up for membership and take part in tours and activities.
Executive Librarian Sophie Walsh says there’s plenty to go around.
“Basically we have loads of little library bags, there’s no urgency, we’re running this all summer long and those little library tours I was talking about, they’re going to happen
over the summer as well.” said Sophie.
“So you’re very welcome to pop in as soon as you can, but don’t press if you’re a little bit busy, we know everyone has busy schedules and we’ll still have bags throughout the summer.” she added.
