Minor works on the Nuenna River running through Freshford, including the removal of decades worth of silt, would reduce the flood risk the village remains vulnerable to.
That’s the view of Castlecomer Municipal District Chair Michael McCarthy, who welcomed the Government’s recent provision of flood relief equipment for his locality.
Cllr. McCarthy told KCLR News that he will be asking Minister of State Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran to join him for another walk along the riverbank to underline what needs to be urgently done in Freshford.”
“I will be in contact with the Minister in the next few weeks to see about his availability to have a repeat visit to Freshford to look at this issue again and see about getting it started. I think it would be very, very beneficial and I think it’s well worthwhile he coming down to take that walk.”
