The Ferry Mountgarrett Bridge which links The Rower and Inistigoe to New Ross will close for up to ten weeks this summer.
Remediation works which a budget of €1.44million will see its surface removed and the construction of a fully enclosed structure over the bridge for the upgrade duration.
Council Director of Services Mary Mulholland, who lives in the area which is set to be impacted, acknowledged the inconvenience set to be caused but stressed that the crossing would not remain safe without such a development.
