A review of the Carlow town bus service is to be undertaken by the National Transport Authority (NTA).
The public transport licensing agency for Ireland is to meet with the county council’s Executive team where initial thoughts and views will be tabled on the revision of the service which was launched in July, 2023.

Among such points from the local authority side are:
– Improved/Closer Linkage of the Bus Service with Carlow Train Station
– Expanding of the Bus Service to areas of the town not currently being serviced
– Possible adjustments of the existing 2 bus routes in the Carlow town bus services
– Possible adjustments of the existing 2 bus routes in the Carlow town bus services
– Conversion of the bus fleet to non-fossil fuel usage, future requirements and depot location
Cllr John Cassin says the NTA has amassed a lot of data/customer feedback on the existing bus services which will also inform the review, with a public consultation on it also due next month.
