The funeral of Donegal pensioners Kathleen and Jimmy Cuddihy, who were found dead in their home on Thursday, will take place tomorrow.
Jimmy Cuddihy was a native of Piltown in Kilkenny, but moved to Donegal in the 1960’s. He was a retired teacher and taught technically drawing in Carndonagh.
On Friday night, at a special sitting of Ballyshannon court, Julian Cuddihy was charged with the murder of his parents.
The 42-year-old was remanded in custody and Judge Kevin Kilraine directed that he undergo a psychiatric assessment.
Meanwhile, the Cuddihy family has released a statement asking for their community to be allowed observe local traditions without media intrusion in the coming days.
The family would also like to thank An Garda Siochana, medical and other personnel, neighbours, friends and the local community for their support and sensitivity at this difficult time.
