Tourist attractions in Kilkenny and Carlow are set to play a part in ‘Ireland’s Ancient East’.
The Failte Ireland initiative will build on the wealth of historical and cultural assets in the east and south.
It will be crafted along four distinct pillars -‘Ancient Ireland’ which will feature prehistoric attractions like the Brownshill Dolmen in Carlow, ‘Early Christian Ireland’ to include sites like Jerpoint Abbey & St.Canice’s Cathedral, ‘Medieval Ireland’ including Kilkenny’s Medieval Mile and ‘Anglo Ireland’ to include Great Houses and Gardens like Altamount.
Paul Keeley from Failte Ireland says its about getting people who visit to stay and explore the whole region.
