Thalidomide was a widely used drug in the late 1950s and early 1960s for the treatment of nausea in pregnant women.
It became apparent in the 1960s that Thalidomide treatment resulted in severe birth defects in thousands of children.
A documentary aired last night on Virgin Media detailling the Thalidomide scandal.
“Michael” is from Kilkenny and he is the only Thalidomide survivor in the County and he told The KCLR Daily he has lived with this for 63 years the impact it has had on his life.
