The planning application Enerco Energy Ltd, a company based in Cork seeks to build seven turbines 3.5km from Tullaroan Village but it will be located within 1km of the village of Kilmanagh.
The planning application lodged with Kilkenny County Council indicates that the wind turbines will stand 185 meters tall, with rotor blades measuring 163 meters in diameter.
Additionally, the company is requesting permission to construct a “permanent 38kV substation compound,” which will include a control building with welfare facilities, all necessary electrical equipment, security fencing, underground cabling, storage containers, a wastewater holding tank, site drainage, and related works.
Tom Hogan from the Kilmanagh/Ballycallan/Tullaroan residents group told KCLR News the scale is massive. He spoke with our reporter Martin Quilty.
