The final preparations are being put in place for Kilkenny’s Africa Day Festival which takes place over the course of Saturday and Sunday this week.
It all kicks off with a soccer match and a barbecue at the Water Barracks from 12 until 4 o’clock on Saturday.
Then on Sunday a parade is taking place starting at the car park opposite St John’s Church, MacDonagh Junction at noon, going through John Street and up to the Castle Grounds.
From 2 until 6 o’clock there will be a public event in the grounds featuring traditional dances, live performances, fashion shows, talent shows, face-painting, picnics and more.
Organisers say there will also be marquees in the event of rain.
All are welcome to come along and more information can be found on Facebook at Kilkenny African Community.
