Entries for the 28th Young Farmer of the Year competition open tomorrow.
It’s run by Macra in partnership with the IFA, and aims to highlight the innovation, leadership and dedication of young farmers.
The Young Entrant award is also up for grabs for anyone under the age of 23.
National President of Macra, Kilkenny’s Josephine O’Neill says it’s a great way to promote generation renewal: “When we look at agriculture at the moment, generation renewal is definitely a buzzword.”
“Though the best new entrant is a wonderful opportunity for our young farmers under the age of 23 to consider entering as they very much begin their careers and start out in farming. So this is a great one to kind of promote generation renewal.”
