An initiative that aims to keep those socialising safe will be rolled out in Carlow today.
The ‘Ask for Angela’ campaign seeks to help those who find themselves in an unsafe or vulnerable situation while in a licensed premises – they can approach staff members and alert them of their position by simply asking to speak to “Angela”.
This indicates that they’re in need of help or to be removed from a situation.
Participating outlets will have signage in place.
Representatives from the County Council, local third level educational facilities and the local Vintners Federation members will join Gardaí at the SETU Carlow campus for today’s launch ahead of the local Raise and Give week next week.
But the assistance isn’t just for students, it’s for those of any age who need the support.
Some of those involved joined our Brian Redmond on The KCLR Daily to discuss it in more detail – hear that here;
