Carlow Rugby Club’s Person of the Year award for 2014-15 was presented to Rachael O Brien at last Friday’s Presidents Dinner held in the Seven Oaks Hotel.
President Ronan Curran said that Rachael was the go-to person covering many roles in the Club alongside her role in communications and website maintenance.
Rachael was presented with a new Perpetual Trophy donated to Carlow by the family of the late Club stalwart Dr Manuel Ribeiro.
Other awards at the Presidents Dinner included;
Senior Player of the Year- Wes Shirley. Ronan Curren described Shirley’s performance in the Town’s Cup game against eventual finalists Kilkenny as that of a Colossus.
Women’s Player of the Year – Erin Byrne. Ronan Curran praised the women’s team for reaching the All Ireland League Division 2 Final which was played in Donnybrook Dublin.
Grounds man Stephen Fleming was given a special award by the players in appreciation of the mammoth work in keeping the Oakpark pitches in playing order for every week of the 2014-15 season..
Carlow Rugby’s AGM takes place in the Clubhouse this Tuesday evening 26th May.
