Kilkenny County Council’s monthly meeting will hear a call to suspend its grant to the FAI.
It comes as the national organisation’s board will meet today to discuss the future of former CEO John Delaney.
Sport Ireland insists the FAI will not get its funding back while the controversy continues and Fine Gael Councillor David Fitzgerald feels the local authority should follow suit.
Cllr Fitzgerald is proposing to suspend the €15,000 grant which is used to employ a Football Development Officer in the county.
However, Mayor of Kilkenny Peter Chap Cleere says too many clubs and communities across the county benefit from the spend and it would only hurt the children and the family of the coach himself.
