A local councillor is calling for more to be done to make roads safer.
Last Friday the first tranche of speed reductions took effect with rural, local routes now down from 80km per hour to 60 zones.
At last evening’s monthly meeting of Carlow County Council, Cllr Daniel Pender looked to build on that initiative.
He told KCLR News; “It’s all very well to change a sign however if there’s no one there to police it a large number of motorists will simply ignore that sign”.
Cllr Pender added; “I asked the question if there were any more speed enforcement measures being considered, it’s something that should be looked at to ensure that our back roads and our road users feel safe”.
