A Carlow Councillor has outlined concerns over overgrown vegetation along the riverbank at Burrin Bridge.
Fintan Phelan raised the issue at the town monthly meeting saying it is blocking the view of Carlow Castle and creating an unsightly appearance.
He also warned the dense growth may be contributing to increased flood risk in the area and called on the local authority to tidy the stretch, telling KCLR News’ Martin Quilty; “This is people’s homes and livelihoods we’re talking about and, you know, we have to do everything we can to try and mitigate the risk of flooding and therefore I’m asking for those areas to be cut back, the Engineer said he would have a look at this and see what can be done, I’ve given that commitment before and it’s something I’ll be certainly following up”.
