A Carlow Councillor has been defending his position regarding the iconic lime kiln in the town.
The structure was part of the old sugar factory and was built in the 1980s.
Last month Councillors were told that it was to be demolished by Greencore, who own the site, but an emergency motion was passed preventing that from happening.
The lime kiln had been listed as a protected structure in previous development plans but was delisted a number of years ago.
Council members have been trying, but failing, to come to an agreement over what to do with it now.
Councillor Michael Doran told KCLR he thinks it should go as it is a huge site that could be developed to promote business’.
