Carlow County Council are dealing with a major oil spill this evening.

Tullow Municipal District are dealing with a 9km long oil spillage along the L2013 between Rathvilly and Hacketstown, going through the Moat Cross and through the townlands of Knockroe, Knockevagh, Barnhill, Tombeagh and Ballykillane.

Because of the extent of the spill, it will take Council staff some time to treat it, and as it is light has faded and with misty rain falling, road users are urged to take extreme caution on this route.
