Carlow County Council has given the go ahead to build eight new local authority houses in the county.
Its part of a plan to construct 169 in total over a two year period across the town and county.
Four new homes are on their way to Slate Row in Hacketstown, two in Bilboa, two in St Patricks Park in Tullow, and one in Drummin.
Councillor Fergal Browne says while he welcomes this, he has concerns about the lack of houses proposed for Carlow Town.
