A Carlow County Council spokesman has admitted the progress on getting security cameras for the Town park has not been as quick as they would like.
Éamonn Brophy says a lot of work is happening in the background to try and make it happen in the coming months.
In the meantime he says other measures are in place like increased Garda patrols of the park.
It’s hoped that the cameras will finally get the go ahead after a meeting due to take place in October.
Éamonn told KCLR Live they can’t make it happen any quicker because they wouldn’t be able to monitor cameras if they installed them themselves, so they’re waiting for the Gardaí to formally approve the extension of their own surveillance scheme.
