Loclas are being urged to keep their dogs under control following recent sheep killings.
A family farm in Carlow saw 6 sheep and 12 lambs killed last year by a pakc of dogs and in the last couple of days more sheep has been killed by a dog leaving the owners devestated.
Marion Dalton Carlow IFA sheep chair says it’s a particularly dangerous time of year for the animals right now, during lambing seaon.
She told KCLR that regulations are not up to scratch: “Worringly enough, there was a recent statistic done by the Department of Agriculture, and they have said that attacks on livestock by dogs have reached a six-year high, and they are up 4% on last year, 2024, which leads us to believe that the current regulations in place are just not working.”
