A campaign to promote Health and Wellbeing within the Carlow Farming Community begins its roll out today.
The six-week programme of events, funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine, comprises a series of free informative talks addressing a range of important issues, culminating in a Wellbeing Day on the 11th of November.
Today’s at midday focuses on Farm Succession and Will Making.
Cllr Thomas Kinsella says of particular interest is the session on farm safety, noting; “It’s very important safety on the farm because farmers due to their occupation they’re exposed to all kinds of safety issues whether through animals or machinery on the farm and particularly maybe when you get somewhat older you have to take more precautions so I think this is a very good initiative and I hope it will be very supported by farmers and that they will drop in and as well as that it’ll be a chance for farmers to meet and older people and chat and talk and discuss other issues they may have problems with as well”.
He adds; “Initially farmers will be a little bit hesitant about something like this but I will be encouraging any farmers that there will be something in this for them”.
