Carlow and Kilkenny Council chiefs summoned to an emergency housing summit in Dublin

The Chief Executives of both Kilkenny and Carlow’s County Councils are among those who’ve been summoned to an Emergency Housing Summit in Dublin.

Minister for Housing, Eoghan Murphy, has called a meeting with all 31 local authority CEO’s for next week, following the deaths this week of three people who were availing of homelessness supports.

The most recent, a woman in her 30’s who was discovered in at Gillabbey Park in Cork at around 2am yesterday morning.

Minister Murphy’s described the levels of homelessness the country is experiencing as unprecedented.

Focus Ireland’s Roughan McNamara says we’re now in the worst homeless crisis in living memory.
