Carlow and Kilkenny road users are being reminded that there have been changes to the maximum vehicle weight – for some vehicles.
The new rules came into effect on Friday.
The department of Transport, Tourism and Sport is reminding road users about these changes.
The maximum national regulatory weight limit for articulated vehicles comprising of a two axle tractor unit towing a three axle semi-trailer has changed to a 40 tonne maximum limit.
42 tonne was the previous maximum weight allowed on our roads – however since Friday this is no longer in effect.
Motorists affected by these changes are being urged to visit the road safety authority website for full details on www.rsa.ie
The new legislation has been put in place under the road traffic construction and use of vehicles regulations 2003.
