The Good Shepherd Centre is calling for an immediate ban on evictions.

New figures reveal a 51% rise in notices of termination in the first three months of 2026.

With 17,517 people already in emergency accommodation, the true impact of these notices may not be seen for another six months. Now the homelessness crisis is set to deepen further.

CEO of the locally based service Noel Sherry says homelessness spares no one and is reminding how behind the numbers are real people.

He’s pleading for stronger policies to prevent homelessness and a faster, more targeted response for those trapped in emergency accommodation or sleeping rough.
