A Carlow Kilkenny TD is the latest linked with the Ceann Comhairle role.
Kildare South’s Seán Ó Fearghaíl, who’s held the position since 2016, is seeking a third term when the Dáil holds the election next Wednesday.
However a number of others are set to join him in the race.
Yesterday we told how Independent Wexford representative Verona Murphy was interested.
Now it’s been reported that the longest serving deputy of Fianna Fáil’s three in our constituency, John McGuinness, is in contention.
He’s served in the Dáil for 27 years and before that as a Kilkenny councillor from 1979.
