A local TD is urging holidaymakers across Carlow and Kilkenny to check their travel documents to avoid peak season passport panic.
Fianna Fáil Deputy Peter “Chap” Cleere says his office is regularly contacted by constituents trying to rescue tricky situations.
He is advising everyone to check their passport dates before booking flights and warns that first-time passport applications take significantly longer to process and says; “You’d be surprised at the amount of people that only realise a couple of days before they’re due to travel, or even sometimes when they’re up at the airport, that their passport is out of date, so if you’re going to a match or you’re going to a wedding or you’re going on holidays or a last minute trip, make sure to check your passport to make sure that it’s in date”.
Anybody with passport issues or queries can contact the Passport Office.
