Carlow People Urged To Part-Take in Housing Repair Scheme

Carlow’s Director of Services says he’s hopeful the pilot housing scheme launched last week will have a hugely positive effect on the county.

Carlow and Waterford were chosen as the two counties where the Government’s housing repair scheme would be piloted.

Interest free-loans of up to €20,000 will be provided for people to do up vacant or derelict buildings across the county which will then be leased to the Council for social housing.

It’s being given a six-month trial period and Director of Services, Séamus O’Connor praised the scheme to KCLR News, saying he is hopeful locals will use the scheme and bring derelict properties up to market standard.
