Three Carlow players have been named on the GAA Team of the Week following their county’s Division 4 final victory at Croke Park.
Padraig Bolger has been selected at corner-back, Conor Doyle is named in midfield, while Ross Dunphy takes his place at full forward.
It follows a memorable day for Carlow, as Joe Murphy’s side claimed the Division 4 title with a dramatic 1–24 to 2–18 win over Longford after extra time.
The victory marked Carlow’s first football win at Croke Park since 1971, as they lifted the trophy in front of a delighted travelling support.
Attention now turns to the Leinster Senior Football Championship, where Carlow will face Wicklow on April 12th.
KCLR football analyst Willie Quinlan believes there is a bigger picture behind the recent success, pointing to the ambition within the current setup.
“I think for the first time in a long, long time we have a manager and his backroom team that are thinking of Carlow — that are thinking of the Sam Maguire. They’ve put everything they possibly can into the league and hopefully we can improve again next year.”
