Plans for a housing development on the outskirts of Kilkenny City have finally been given the green light.
Kilkenny County Council has officially granted conditional planning permission for 39 new homes on the site of the former Sion Hermitage lands on the Sion Road.
The low-density development will feature a mix of two, three, four, and five-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes.
The project also includes the total demolition of two existing buildings, while another will be partially demolished to make way for a brand-new residents’ communal building.
The application has been a point of high interest for local residents following the previous rejection of a much larger one-hundred-and-twenty unit development on the exact same site.
As part of the approved plans, developers will create a new site entrance and a public footpath directly onto the Sion Road.
25 conditions need to be met – ffull details here.
