The cost of childcare in Carlow, Kilkenny and every other county is under review.
Children’s Minister has today announced a country wide review of creche fees.
This is the first time the government has carried out a comprehensive review of the cost of delivering childcare.
It will see a full independent analysis of the fees charged by creches in Carlow and Kilkenny and right around the country.
The findings of this audit will inform the decisions that the Minister Katharine Zappone makes on the budget next year.
Its understood the review could determine the level of childcare payments families receive depending on where they live.
A deadline of 10 months has been set for the process.
Early Childhood Ireland which represents thousands of workers in the sector has welcomed news of the review describing it as a win for parents, policy makers and providers.
