Councillor calls for a biodiversity officer to be appointed in Carlow

The PBP representative believes it should be funded by the Minister with roots locally

A local councillor is demanding that a biodiversity officer be appointed in Carlow.

People Before Profit’s Adrienne Wallace says they’re needed to lead green initiatives in the county and protect the local flora and fauna.

At the May meeting of the Planning, Environment, Climate and Biodiversity Action, Energy and Agriculture Strategic Policy Committee the members unanimously agreed to back the call.

Cllr Wallace says it’s up to the Heritage Minister, Carlow Kilkenny’s Green TDMalcolm Noonan, to provide funding.
