The delay in the holding of an oral hearing by An Coimisiún Pleanála regarding a proposed 2.2kilometre realignment of the N24 outside Mooncoin has been criticised by a local County Councillor.
The section in question, which consists of a series of bends on approach from the Carrick-on-Suir side of the town, has had a significant number of road traffic accidents catalogued by local residents over several decades.
An exasperated Councillor Pat Dunphy says enough is enough and that residents and motorists alike deserve better, telling KCLR News’ Dermot Keyes; “This went to court there last year and was sent back to An Coimisiún Pleanála to have an oral hearing on it, that was nearly 13 months ago now, nothing has happened since, when you consider what people are going through on the Carrick Road trying to get out of their houses, it’s a death trap you’ve maybe 20metres vision in some areas, the fact that An Coimisiún Pleanála don’t see the need to push this on”.
