Kilkenny City’s Watergate Theatre is to be on the receiving end of a much needed energy upgrade.
Councillors gave the go ahead at yesterday evening’s monthly meeting for the works, which will focus mainly on the auditorium and fly tower sections of the building, to proceed as planned.
The needed improvements, will mainly focus on an energy upgrade. The renovation of some of the building will involve improved insulation in the building, which aims to give patrons a more comfortable experience in the theatre, while also reducing costs.
The improvements will also feature work on the general look of the building, with a visual link to the Mayfair Library proposed.
