A county Carlow man’s been selected to represent Ireland after earning a place in the Ireland Mixed Seniors squad for the 2026 International Tag Federation (ITF) Tag World Cup in Australia.
Clonmore native Darragh Conway is a Sports Development Officer and has built his career around encouraging sports participation while working on his own international athlete ambitions.
His years of dedication to tag rugby has now been recognised with the call-up – he’s set to travel to Coffs Harbour for the contest which runs from 15th to 18th October with more than 200 teams from 30+ countries competing in men’s, women’s and mixed competitions.
Ahead of that, Ireland hosts Great Britain in the British & Irish Cup at UCD on the 1st and 2nd of August.
Darragh says; “It’s an absolute honour to be selected to represent Ireland at a World Cup. Australia is the home of the sport, and travelling there is a huge and very exciting challenge. We are incredibly grateful for SMBC Aviation Capital’s support on this journey, which will pit us against the best players in the world while proudly representing Ireland and Carlow.”
