Today sees the Feast of St Moling and the local village named after him will mark the occasion.
An evening of history, community and celebration awaits in St Mullins from 6:30pm in memory of the man said to have been a poet, and a 7th Century cleric, one of the four great prophets of Erin.
The second Bishop of Ferns, he set up a monastery at the county Carlow spot and is also understood to have had a church built in county Kilkenny.
