Carlow’s hurlers have once again shown they belong at the top table, and they’ve got the respect of none other than Davy Fitzgerald.
The former Wexford boss had plenty to say about Tom Mullaly’s side after their dramatic Allianz League draw with Antrim last weekend.
Fitzgerald knows better than most that Carlow are never to be taken lightly, and he made that clear when speaking to KCLR.
“I never take these [games] granted. Never. When I was at Wexford, I always got the boys way, way up for it. If you’re not out for Carlow, they will beat you. They are able to play. So I don’t buy into that and I don’t like anyone that would disrespect them like that. I don’t think they deserve that. But I don’t ever, ever take them for granted, ever.”
Carlow now have a big test ahead as they head to Parnell Park to take on Dublin this Saturday at 6 PM. A strong showing there would set them up nicely as they push on in Division 1 of the Allianz League.
You can hear more from Davy Fitzgerald on this week’s KCLR Hurling Podcast, which also features Kilkenny’s Mossy Keoghan and Tipperary’s Ronan Maher as they look ahead to the big Kilkenny vs. Tipperary clash this weekend.
