Death announced of Alice Cairns, the Kilkenny mother of missing Dublin schoolboy Philip Cairns

The death has taken place of the Kilkenny mother of Dublin schoolboy Philip Cairns who went missing in 1986.

Alice Cairns is originally a Brennan from the Lisnafunchion / Castlecomer area but has been living in the Capital for many years.

Her son Philip disappeared on the 23rd of October, 39 years ago while walking back to his school in Rathfarnham.

His father, also Philip, died in 2014.

Funeral details have yet to be revealed but are expected this (Thursday) afternoon.
